Showers turn out to be less showery
Today we had an overcast day with the threat of a shower every now and then. Sam and I got ready in our bathing suits for a big big shower coming our way. We had our shampoo ready on the deck and were looking forward to some heavy rain…. But then it turned out to be just a drizzly sort of shower and we ended up with buckets of salt water and our outside shower to rinse off. Still, it was good fun!

We have had a red footed Booby visit us all day long. It was soaring next to us for half the day and then decided it was a good idea to use the jib boom as a resting place. But after days of force 4 to 5 winds, the waves have grown a little too, so the jib boom was not the most stable part it could have chosen! While balancing on the tip it was grooming itself and gave us an opportunity to take some pictures! The picture of the day ended being of the Booby.
We have 273 miles until we are close to the south east tip of Hawaii and 450 miles until we are at Honolulu harbor. With this speed it is only a matter of a few days, which seems strange after a long time out at sea. Everybody has really settled down into a rhythm, one where a nap is at a certain time, there are workout appointments at set times and steering in turns goes to a certain rhythm as well. It feels good, steady speed sailing, no seasickness, many books in the library being read and nice book discussions during the watch! What more could you wish for.
