Dodging showers

Today has been all about the showers, and us professionally avoiding them. Somehow we managed to be surrounded by beautiful cumulus all day, and then by cumulonimbus for part of the day, but hardly needing a jacket. At one point we were sort of longing for a good shower, to help us rinse the salt of the deck, that has been cumulating there for days of spray and small waves flushing the deck and then drying out in the sun. But no such ‘luck’ so far.

We are seeing flying fish, schools of them, but we have not found any on the deck so far! Which none of us regret! We all have war stories of finding them, trying to safe them or getting hit by them. But it is nice that these are memories, instead of current stories. We can do without this excitement very well.

We have started up the picture of the day and today Maartje won with this amazing picture of the clouds at sunrise. And the shower we just dodged! The competition was fierce, a panorama, an empty deck with blue blue water, Tom working with the sextant with a beautiful afternoon sun in the back and one of the sunset and the moon. Looking forward to tomorrow already.

Other then that we have kept busy with small chores on board. Small rigging jobs with fair leads, running the watermaker in the slow hours in the morning and even running a washing machine with tea towels and then hanging the washing on a line on the deck. Its a nice sight to wake up to, the colorful tea towels just waving at you from the front deck, easy going course, easy wind and eating away at the miles.

All is well on board, jet
