Albatrosses and banana cake!
What started off with rain, so much rain, ended in a beautiful moon rise around 23:30. The first part of the day we sailed in among showers, grey sky, drizzle and then small showers again. The world was a bit of a gloomy place. The tail of the low pressure area, many miles to the North of us, gave us a mild impression of a frontal passage. And after the passage, in the morning, we lost all the wind and had to start the engine for a few hours.

In the afternoon we were able to sail again. Close hauled and not directly to our goal, but we were sailing! It started in our 12 to 16 watch, the mainsail was down due to the flogging in the waves, then the wind picked up and as everybody was resting, we really felt like we should not wake them up.. But without a mainsail, we would not have enough speed.. So I looked at Tim and Tom and said… what do you think, can we get that mainsail up with just the three of us..? All I needed to see was their big smiles and off we went. It took us a while, and Sue was there to help us for the last few pulls, but we made it!!

And then there were the albatrosses! First off the black footed albatross (in the picture) and then in came the Laysan Albatross, not just one, but around dinner time there were 5 big albatrosses following us and gliding along the big swell that had set in. And then there was banana chocolate cake for desert! The last of the banana’s and they were awesome!

Picture of the day gave us two winners, 4 votes for a nature picture and 4 votes for a sunset picture. So today here are two of our best shots!
All well on board, Jet
