The Tecla is in the rare opportunity to offer a sponsorship for two youngsters up to €800 during the trip between Sal on the Cape Verdes and Salvador in Brazil, 17-2-2013 // 12-03-2013. The costs of the voyage are €1734 (15-25 years old), so with the €800 sponsorship that would get down to €943 for 24 days at sea! This includes stay on board, food and drinks on board, sail training program and the adventure of a lifetime!

It will be an amazing adventure! You will set sail from the Cape Verdes, a Portuguese island group next to the African coast. Here the Tecla will sail together with the Oosterschelde first to one or two of the Islands and then across the ocean. Crossing the ocean the trip will start off with the trade winds, a North East wind pushing us close to the Equator and into the Doldrums. An area around the Equator with hardly any wind. Crossing the Equator you will meet Neptune, have a ‘Crossing the Line’ ceremony and receive your Neptune name. For the real saltbags among us! Getting to Brazil (depending on average speed) we will be able to take some time to discover the bay that Salvador is situated in before you disembark. Or stay for the next leg…
On board you will be part of a watch, you will learn how to sail the Tecla, steer, navigate, cook and maybe learn how to prepare fresh fish caught underway.
