Today brought that perfect Sunday feeling — easy breeze, warm air, and a relaxed vibe on board. Shorts came out, the sun peeked through, still a swell that rocked us violently every now and then, but all in all (especially after a pancake breakfast) it was a very easy going Sunday at sea!
Dolphins on a mission
Late in the morning, a large pod of small dolphins, likely spinner dolphins, swept past us in hunting mode. Sleek and fast, they had no time to play — but their swift movements and focused chase were a joy to witness from deck.
Feathered drama
Above us, masked boobies circled and a noisy group of red-billed tropicbirds swooped in. Their high-pitched squabbles echoed below deck — clearly, they were competing for a prize. It was a busy day at sea for everyone!
Afternoon sail trim
After lunch we lowered the topsails and made a clean gybe to steer slightly north — aiming to reconnect with the wind field. Gusts remain inconsistent, and when the sails lose pressure in the swell, they crash painfully. Everyone on deck flinches when it happens — so we’re keeping a close eye on our course.
Mate time & Sunday rituals
By mid-afternoon, it was time for our beloved mate break — a shared moment with the traditional South American tea. Joana, Bob, and Michael passed the gourd and relaxed in the shade, a perfect fit for the day’s laid-back mood.
And as tradition holds: 18:00 means drinks on deck. One cold beer, good company, and a horizon tinged with golden light — our way of celebrating another Sunday at sea.
Picture of the day was won by Lisa, a last minute shot of our gathering on the aft!
All is well on board, Jet
