Not sure what to write about today. The days are mellow, sun is shining, its still very hot, but we have a nice breeze as well. During the afternoon the wind increased to a full force 4 sometimes 5 bf. So our topsails had to come down for a bit. We set them again with watch handover at midnight. But other then that, not much changed on board, no big news to report, so maybe I should have started this logbook entry with All is well on board, instead of finishing with it. Because that is all it is. Its well, we are enjoying the weather and the comfort of our watch system. Chores are being completed, the ship is sailing well and routine is restored now we are back under canvas again.

So what else can I tell you? We had chili con carne for dinner the day before yesterday, I made waaaaay to much, on purpose, so today we had home made tortilla wraps with chili as filling. Perfect dinner, except that the waves had been building up and I thought up this dinner while the ship was quietly sailing on even keel. While baking the wraps, Myrthe had to brace in the galley and hold the pans on the stove with every wave. On the ‘rolling’ table where the wraps were formed, Maike and Stella were holding on to the dough roller with one hand and forming a new ball with the other… Altogether that went better then my brilliant idea, while the ship was on even keel, that we could make pancakes for lunch.. But by lunchtime we were healing over to portside and only one pan would stay on the stove.. Ah well, the challenges we face. Maybe for tomorrow I should plan a simpeler dinner meal. Especially for the dishwashing team, trying to keep the water in the sink is just as much a challenge as holding the pans in place.

During the afternoon we looked into our new celestial challenge for the next few days. The sun will be so high above is that it gets harder to take the angle precisely. So we will have to do a tropic calculation. Its not often we get a chance to do these calculations, so its nice to have some new input. Celestial navigation has been hard as we often have things to do during Culmination, and other times we were under complete cloud cover. Yesterday was the first good fix in 3 days. We have not come round to stars yet, so maybe we should start with that next!

And so I finish this logbook entry, the weather is good, visibility is good, seastate is moderate (annoying), swell is 1 m NE, wind is force 3 NE. All is well on board. Jet

Jet we admire your seamanship! Keep Tecla rolling and the team in the right mood! Pancakes are a detail then right? Half way there, goed of for you and the rest. And for family and friends missing someone on board…we wish you a safe trip and the right wind.
