We have received news of a powerful earthquake (M 8.8) near the Kamchatka Peninsula, which has triggered a tsunami warning for parts of the western Aleutian Islands. Small tsunami waves (approximately 1 to 1.4 feet) have been recorded in locations such as Adak and Atka.
Tecla had already departed and is now sailing in deep waters, well away from the affected coastline. We are safe and outside of the danger zone. While we continue to monitor the situation closely, there is no immediate threat to our voyage.
