Another Sunday at sea

Well what do Sundays at sea look like? As it goes, we have come to the conclusion during this last voyage, that Sundays, were pretty much always sunny days! Or at least, every evening at 18:00, when we would gather on the aft for a traditional Sunday beer, it would not be raining and it would actually be fairly nice weather! And so the winner of the picture of the day seems only fitting. Bob wins, with his view of Sunday at sea.

We will not make our 10:00 disembark for this morning.. We still have over 200 miles to go and so would be very happy to make it in the next 36 hours and possibly a little later. For our off going crew, this does not pose the biggest problem, first plane off the island does not leave until the 12th. We have just added another day or so to the experience of an ocean voyage like this one.

This past day we hardly had any wind, except for during the night. Winds picked up around 22:00 board time and by 00:00 we were doing 6,5 knots towards our destination. The wind picked up a little more, which made us shoot along with 9 knots. But alas, the wind has already decreased and was expected to do so, before it will turn against us again. We have some drizzle, really grey skies, but still a nice temperature! We are now down to 6 knots, 1 day and 15 hours the eta says. Lets not pin ourselves down on that, the weather forecast is a little fickle, changing winds all day long and strong south westerly winds coming in at the end of Tuesday.. so we are in a hurry for multiple reasons.

During this last night watch we started counting some of the supplies we went through. The 30 or even 35 kilos of cheese, 60 kilos of potatoes, 75 kilo of onion (we still have left), 15 kilos of pumpkin, over 10 kilo’s of Nutella and more then 15 kilo’s of mayonaise, 50 liters of yoghurt (now on our last bit of life culture..), at least 4 kilo’s of ginger and so on. It is hilarious to think of what a person eats during 7 weeks at sea!

All is well on board, jet
