Autumn remembrance

Only 2 years ago we sailed through wind and weather on the ‘dangerous’ side of Tasmania.  On our way to Hobart we passed on the rugged west coast to the south. We sailed to King Island and entered Port Davey, an Oceanic inlet on the South West coast of Tasmania. A place that is normally hard to reach, but one of those places on earth that stays with you for the rest of your life!

Only 2 years ago we had many miles ahead. And while in the Netherlands the autumn storms started, we enjoyed the idiotic low pressure areas still hitting the South coast of Australia.

And this year, as the autumn is setting in (accompanied with lots of rain), we head into a winter in the Netherlands. The Tecla will stay in the Netherlands for big maintenance. There is one more race to sail in October and then it’s into maintenance mode for us.

We have some amazing things to look forward too, though! After last season, we will work on a new set of sails. We will lower the mainmast, for the first time since she was put on in 2011. We will go into dry dock again end of winter. And in the meantime we will work in the office on perfecting the new website and our sailing season 2016.

Coming up are also preparations for 2017 – Trans Atlantic time again!

We will try and keep you up to date through our website and social media!
