Beautiful sailing Sunday

We have come to our second Sunday at sea. And it has been a beautiful Sunday at sea. Perfect sailing weather, possibly a little too hot.. But with a refreshing shower every now and then. This morning we had two big showers. One at 07:00 that was enough to wash yourself with, but we were unprepared.. And then again around 10:00 but that had a little less volume, and so we got wet, soaked through and through (Soete, Dani and I changed into swimming gear) but could not wash our hair with it..

Being at the 4th and now 3rd degree Latitude and being under sail like we are now, really is a treat! The wind is already South East, it has been veering a lot in the last 24 hours. When I finish this Logbook entry, we will pull in some sheets. We will slow down a little as we come more to a close hauled course, but at least we will not give up too much Westing before hitting the equator.

And that is the Talk on board right now. Neptune visiting the Tecla. What will happen. Stories of food stores being saved and gruesome line crossing activities are passing by. I am not giving any hints as to what Neptune is normally like on board Tecla. Let them think the worst or be in doubt a little longer. First get to this line where North becomes South and realm of Sea creatures and Pelagic animals open their arms to another few sailors.

We have been followed by a family of Red Footed Boobies the past few days. As we race through the water, we send up flying fish that want to get away from us and they are there for it! Swooping down, gaining speed, catching the ones that break the surface. There are 4 adults and 3 juveniles in this group. It looks like the young ones are getting lessons in feeding them selves.

Sunday beer was accompanied by some music and a fresh home made tapenad with dippers. It ended with dinner being on the table and a shower just of our portside.. The rain was but short, but the dinner was very nice.
Beverly won our picture of the day company with some divine sunbeams behind one of the many big clouds.

All is well on board,
Jet
