8-8-2024, Baffin Bay
After a 3 day stay amongst the ice of Ilulissat we managed to creep into the harbour for a quick refill on water and diesel. The fog was thick hiding all the fast motor boats and ice. We were rushed out of the harbour by the locals. They need the space for their short season of ice free Disko Bay. At first, this seems a bit rude but if you think about it, it makes sense. We are visitors, the lowest priority! So I thanked Jorg for letting us use the space and water hose and got out of his way as quick as we dared. The compass being of no use steering was challenging for our new hands. We jumped from one ice berg to the next. Not very difficult when there are so many around… By 20.00 the sky cleared and we could see where we were going. The shock on some of the faces, seeing all the ice in the bay, was secretly amusing. The trick is, to not look too far ahead, just happily jump from one to the next without touching it. Color soon came back to these faces as we enjoyed the magnificent views!.
Yellow Brick is working again!
We are on an ambisious adventure! Lancaster sound and beyond! Ice charts are looking good as does the weather. Spirits are high as we slowely make our way north!
All is well
