11’28.2S 010’02.9W course 330′ speed 6,6kn
Mondays are for getting things done, on Sunday we have no extra chores, so on Monday we can do a little more. Last night we had some work on the Jib, so the night started off well. Some chafing on the sheets needed to be attended to and so in the light of the moon, and with a little help of the deck lights, we lowered the sail and got the work done, divided over two watches.
We continued with our celestial navigation and have made the plan to tape off the gps and chart plotter starting this afternoon, and then over the course of a few days keep track of our position, with just celestial sights. See if we can find a safe course past Ascension Island and the towards the equator. Will keep you updated!

The sun was fierce today. Such a heat and such relentless shining! Apart from during the Culmination, meridian passage… at that moment it was completely overcast! Nice challenge for the next few days. We are all starting to feel the heat, hydration is key, and so is the position of our ventilators when we sleep.
We have not seen much wildlife lately. Flying fish are still around, sometimes in big flogs, but luckily not many end up on deck. No bird life and no dolphins or whales though. Or maybe our gaze is directed too much inward, on board and on deck, instead of looking around a lot. The ocean becomes so massive, so big, ever expanding and nothing to see on the horizon, that after some time at sea, your world becomes smaller and smaller.
We are all getting back to our rhythm, sleep is becoming less important, so we have fun with mixed watches on deck doing crossword puzzles or just chatting away. As a team we are getting very comfortable and close to each other, its nice to see. And good, as we have another 40 days to go.
All is well on board, Jet
