We have made it to Herschel Island! Dead calm is the only way to describe the past day. No wind and lots of fog. We lived in a small world since last night, every now and then the fog would lift, just a little, increasing our visibility to 200 meters.. but mostly we could just see the ship and the jibboom, with the point already in a blanket of fog.

Progress was steady and so we are happy to be at anchor now, our first stop in Canada! A big seal just popped his head out, curious as to what was drifting in his or her bay and some harlequine ducks showed up out of the fog. It’s good to be back here!

Thanks so much for your posts Jannette; loving your log and photos. Are you able to post your planned route from here? I realise this is ice dependent but assume it’s Amundsen Gulf through to Queen Maude … but west or east of KWI? … and Belot Strait to Prince Regent Inlet?
Best wishes for safe sailing … very envious of the ‘voyage of a lifetime’ and looking forward to catching up next year in Greenland. Regards.
