Snow and ice

At last the fog lifted and Greenland emerged out of the sea. The pack ice had arrived earlier that morning and was getting denser, still 40 nm. offshore. When we left Reykjavik, it was already uncertain whether we would make it through Prins Christians Sund. Now it was clear this was not going to happen. Following the Pack seemed like the best thing to do. Latest ice info still being absent we sailed on until forced to go south. We started the engine and dodged some of the ice flows. Lucky for us the lead became more favorable while it was extending in the direction of our course. The pack ice consisted of at least 6-10th of ice with many clear ridges. No need to do something foolish… The snowcapped mountain peaks where a welcome sight after nearly 5 days at sea. A pot of pilot whales thought the same of us as they cruised by. We are currently rounding Cape Farvel, the most southern tip of Greenland. If the ice permits, we will try to find a nice anchorage but that is still a long way of… For now, we can enjoy the spoils of our hard labor. It was a true and true sailing trip all the way. Reef in reef out. Main up main down. Well done crew!!!

All is well
