Saturday was a beautiful day. We started of sailing, but then lost the wind, and continued under engine. The sunrise was beautiful and all day long we had blue skies and the sun in our faces. With sails still set, helping with the small breeze that was still there, we were doing 7 knots on average and so, very happily heading South!

We are not sure wether the bird we had on board last night (who left us as we turned off the engine and started to sail again) was the same bird as we saw during the day, but during most of the day, we were accompanied by, most likely a garden Brambler. At first it appeared weak, not caring wether we saw it and came close, it was just there.. But then we started feeding it our breakfast muffins and cookies.. and it started to move a little more. It flew inside, had a look around and went outside again. We made little tray with water in it for him and spilled some, which he drank straight away. It then proceeded to clean up all the crumbs and head over to the water and drink some more. And even at one point he was standing in the water, shaking himself and looking like he washed off the salt water spray.
We named him Piet, and Piet had a snack, a drink and a bath on board Tecla, a real spa day for a small little garden Brambler.
Other then that, we did some maintenance. Our traveler broke down and so we need to get a make shift solution for now, until we can fix it on Tenerife.
We worked on making shopping lists and we just enjoyed the sunshine for a while. It is so nice to feel the warmth through your (one layer) clothes. Even if we are not sailing, just wearing flip flops and having a cup of tea in the sunshine is very rewarding after so much grey!

For dinner we had home made tortilla wraps with chicken and some additives, from a recipe I stole from our Chilean guides, Jhonny and Benja. It was a big success! and a good way to finish a fine day!
Its strange to see our ETA on our arrival say 5 days, so arrival on the 8th early in the morning.. But we know its not likely with predicted wind for the coming 2 days. The wind is already increasing and should turn Southerly in the morning and then due South on the 4th of November. Hopefully our position so close to Portugal, will give us a direct course to our destination, most of the time.. Roughly 780 miles to go.
All is well on board,
Jet
