Finaly our Antarctic adventure came to an end yesterday. After having seen all the pinguin species (yes also the emperor) and having spent most of the time basking in sunshine there was no better moment to leave.

A morning visit to Port Lockroy, the farthest south post office it was time to pack up. Sleet hid everything from sight until the snow clouds lifted and one last time revealed the Antarctic beauty. Le Maire strait lay to the south as we approached Lenie Passage. Port Charcot not far to starboard.

Our eyes were on the future though. The big tabular ice bergs ahead indicated the many uncharted dangers in the outward passage. The first swell gently lifted Tecla’s bow. A friendly reminder of what was to come. A forecast with weather from all points the coming days meant a little help from the Scania department.

Currently we are under sail and making some west. A big low is due to pass to the north of us and we are in no hurry to meet up with it. The first Albatrosses have been spotted but there is still some ice around!
All is well
