While last night we were afraid of loosing the wind, the wind picked up in the early morning and we have been going in a Northerly direction on a steady pace ever since. The weather has been fairly warm, or not cold, but wet. During the morning and late afternoon we had a rain coming down, the rest of the day was grey with a thick cloud cover and drizzle every now and then. But as long as we have this beautiful force three wind, we are not complaining!

Slowly we are all getting into the rhythm of the watches. Downstairs is nice and cosy, people reading a book or making drawings, while outside a team of four expedition crew and two permanent crew are making sure we are going in the right direction. The nights are still very dark, as we head North we are looking forward to the eternal sunset we had in 2019. But the beauty of the dark nights are the luminescent algae in a trail behind us, or in the bow waves in the front.
We have not spotted any big wildlife today, but we did spot the Arctic Skua and possibly the long tailed Skua. A group of 6 Arctic Skua hung around the ship during the afternoon, giving us the opportunity to have a good look at them. Their small black heads and pointy tail were very easy to spot. They make more sound then all the other birds as well. The fulmar and the sheerwaters have been very quiet compared to these chatty birds!
Other then that, we have no tough stories to tell yet. Our small world just keeps moving more Northerly and that is exactly where we want to be.
All is well on board, Jet
