Waiting for the wind

We are waiting for the North East trade winds to kick in. We had hoped that would happen around midnight. But due to our afternoon activities, we are miles and miles more South then I had thought and so, we have to make our way under engine a little longer.

During the day we did a swim stop. It was extremely warm today. The water temp (surface water) was over 30 degrees and the air temperature came up to 36 on the thermometer. So we had our sun sail up to shade us and we stayed out of the extreme sun in the afternoon.. Except for when we send Tom up in the mast to check on a light that was not working. Myrthe was then send up in the mizzen mast to retrieve a vlag that had come undone, we had also done some hull scraping and so our heroes were hard at work all afternoon!

We then organized a party, our half way party. We are stil short on the miles to the middle, but we are half way through our days! We organized a cocktail party on the aft, with a special cocktail of Pineapple, coconut milk and the last tiny bit of rum left from Sams bottle of captains catch. I dressed up Maike with a flower and send her off to invite everybody on the aft with cocktail party attire. And they did! And boy did they put an effort in! Not often do you see such a slick looking crew after 30 days on a voyage and hundreds of miles to land in all direction!

Sleep is not easy in this heat, so I hope that with the wind a small refreshing feeling comes with it! This night is particularly humid and warm, the soundings of the weather changing soon!
All is well on board, Jet
