When ever the North East wind blows

We have found the trade winds, good and well now. The clouds have changed in little cumulus puffs and some cirrostratus clouds at the end of the afternoon, just to shade us from the sun a little bit. We have had a beautiful halo around the moon for several days as the moon was full a few days ago. Today it is already half way gone and lying on its side. The beginning of the night is very dark as the moon is not there yet, but right now we can see everything on deck and sometimes even see each others faces, it gives so much light!

Besides the picture of the day competition, we now have a small watch competition going on as well.. most miles in 4 hours.. Of course it depends on who you talk to wether we have already started as one watch did 33,7 and the other 32,8.. “We start tomorrow” the last watch asked, “right?!”. Sure, we start tomorrow.

Tomorrow is also Sunday, our second Sunday out at sea. No extra work to be done, maybe some laundry if the waves permit it and maybe some sunbathing as well. Or maybe stay in the shade, its warm enough as it is! By now we are in shorts and t shirts in the night watch and it feels lovely with the breeze in our hair.

Books are being devoured by the dozen. To make things more complicated Karen is working on her Spanish and reading a book in Spanish, keeps life interesting. Others are reading the “master and commander” series and even smarter ones are reading about the Arctic and Antarctic, these books bring a cold breeze with them to cool you down during the hot hours.

All is well, Jet

Thank you, Jet, for sharing these glimpses of life aboard Tecla! I enjoy your writing and appreciate the chance to share vicariously in your journey. (I’m Russell’s father so I have a particular interest in this voyage.)
