Big Albatrosses skimming just over the tops off the waves and the sun disappearing behind big clouds, we have come to where the Albatrosses live.
During the day we set the mainsail, that made our movement in the water a lot more comfortable. As the wind had dropped to a force 5 sometimes gusting 6, our reeved mizzen, forestaysail and smallest jib, were just not enough to keep a nice heel in the waves. With the mainsail back on, it was much more comfortable. But still our deck was dry, and I was walking around on socks most of the day. Who needs boots any way. Sadly, the wind died out during the late afternoon and since just before dinner we have been under engine, with most sails down.

Winds are picking up again right now, so hopefully in the next hour or so we can get some more canvas up and turn off the engine. Beautiful and strong as she is, our Scania, she is a little smelly with the wind coming in on our starboard side.

The sunrise and sunset have been rivals of late. Their picture has been taken many times and picture of the day competitors are often one of the two! This morning was amazing, bright red skies and pink clouds on the opposite side of the sunrise. We were thinking with all the red in the sky, that we would have a wet day today, but actually we had sunshine and some clouds, but mostly a very beautiful day.

We have identified some new birds flying around, an Atlantic Petrel, sone Spectacled Petrel, two great Wandering Albatrosses and the light mantled Sooty Albatross. Now we just have to get a good picture of some of them, but they always seem to be too fast!

All is well on board, Jet
